JOB PURPOSE is the development, implementation, and maintenance of planograms—visual diagrams that indicate the optimal placement of products on shelves to maximize sales and improve customer experience.
DUTIES
Planogram Development:
- Create and design planograms that reflect the store's product placement strategy, using software tools
- Ensure that planograms meet the company’s merchandising goals and align with current marketing campaigns, promotions, and product launches.
Product Placement:
- Analyze product performance to determine the best placement of items to optimize visibility and sales (e.g., placing high-demand items at eye level).
- Adjust product displays based on seasonality, trends, and customer buying patterns.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Work closely with category managers, store managers, and merchandisers to ensure product placement aligns with overall business objectives.
Inventory Management:
- Ensure that the products displayed match inventory levels, avoiding overstocking or understocking issues.
- Monitor stock levels and adjust planograms when necessary.
Compliance and Standardization:
- Ensure that planograms comply with company standards and any legal regulations (e.g., safety guidelines, space requirements).
- Implement standardized shelving and product positioning across different store locations.
Store Support and Training:
- Provide training and guidance to store employees on how to implement and maintain planograms.
- Visit stores to audit compliance with planograms, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments based on sales data or feedback.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze sales data, product movement, and customer behavior to adjust planograms for optimal performance.
- Report the performance of planograms to management and suggest changes to improve sales
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred): Degrees in fields such as business, merchandising, marketing, retail management, or related areas may be advantageous.
- Retail or Merchandising Experience: Prior experience working in retail, especially in roles like merchandising, store management, or inventory management, is usually expected.
- Planogram or Space Planning Experience: Employers often prefer candidates who have specific experience working with planograms, either as part of a merchandising team or directly as a Planogram Specialist.
- Planogram Software: Familiarity with specialized software Knowledge of Excel
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing sales and performance data to make informed decisions about product placement.
- Inventory Management Systems: Experience working with inventory and stock management systems to align the planogram with inventory levels.
- Attention to Detail: Planogram Specialists need to have a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in product placement and store layout.
- Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze sales trends, customer behavior, and product performance to create effective planograms.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work effectively with store managers, category managers, and other retail staff.
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the implementation of planograms or address challenges in product performance.
- Knowledge of Retail Trends: A strong understanding of consumer behavior, retail merchandising trends, and category management strategies
