Sugar cake is one of the most delicious and beloved sweets of Azerbaijani cuisine. This delicious dessert, made from soft, sweet and light dough, decorates the tables, especially on Novruz Wednesdays and Novruz holiday. It is so easy to prepare that anyone can easily prepare it. In this recipe, I will explain step by step how to make sugar cake.
Ingredients:
• Milk - 240 ml (1 cup)
• Sugar powder - 200 g (1 cup)
• Dry yeast - 10 g (1 packet)
• Salt - 5 g (1 teaspoon)
• Egg - 1 piece
• Butter - 120 ml (1/2 cup)
• Flour - 450 g (approximately 3 cups of water, may vary depending on the consistency of the dough)
Preparation:
1. Activate the Yeast: Add sugar and yeast to warm milk and mix, wait 10 minutes.
2. Prepare the dough: Mix flour, salt, eggs and oil, add yeast mixture and knead.
3. Prove: Cover the dough and wait for 1 hour.
4. Shape: Divide the dough into small pieces and roll them.
5. Bake: Press the center of the sugar cookies with your finger, decorate with egg yolk, and bake at 180°C for 25-30 minutes.
